Experience Sucheon Bay Garden Expo Korea 2013

DAY 1 - Insa-Dong

Insa-dong (인사동), located in the heart of the city, is an important place where old but precious and traditional goods are on display. There is one main road in Insa-dong with alleys on each side. Within these alleys are galleries, traditional restaurants, traditional teahouses, and cafes. 

DAY 1 - Bukchon Haneok Village

Surrounded by Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine, Bukchon Hanok Village is home to hundreds of traditional houses called 'hanok' that date back to the Joseon Dynasty. The name, 'Bukchon,' which literally translates to 'northern village,' came about as the neighborhoods that the village covers lie to the north of the two significant Seoul landmarks, Cheonggyecheon Stream and Jongno. Today, many of these hanoks operate as cultural centers, guesthouses, restaurants and tea houses, providing an opportunity to experience, learn and immerse in Korean traditional culture.


DAY 1 - Myeong-dong


Myeong-dong is all about shopping. From the towering super stores of Migliore, Lotte Department Store, Avatar and High Harriet to the cozy, lesser-known individual shops lining the neon lit side streets; the area has something for everyone. Whether the search is for accessories, athletic wear, shoes, boots or a number of other mid to high priced items, you will find it all here. With the main streets boasting larger, well-known stores, many of the better bargains are to be found at some of the discount stores that require a little walking to get to. All this selection of styles and sizes, coupled with the freedom of strolling in the open-air make Myeong-dong a shopping destination not to be missed and an adventure sure to be remembered.

DAY 1 - Nanta Show




NANTA has been running since October 1997 and is the most popular show ever in Korea. It also has achieved outstanding international success having performed on Broadway and toured widely around the US and the rest of the world. It receives rave reviews wherever it performs and quickly sells out.


DAY 2 - Hongik University Shopping Street

Hongdae-ap (the area in front of Hongik University) is a neighborhood known for its youthful and romantic ambience, underground cultures, and freedom of self-expression. Unique cafes, cozy galleries, accessory stores, fashion shops, live cafés and clubs, art markets, and gourmet eateries make this a popular hang-out for locals in their 20s and 30s and a fascinating place to walk around. 




Ginseng shops in a ginseng distribution center located on the second floor of Namdaemun Theatre in Namdaemun Market. Here, you may purchase quality ginseng at a 20~30% discounted price.


DAY 2 - Everland


The park is home to over 40 heart-pounding rides and attractions. In addition to ‘Safari World’ featuring white tigers, tigers, lions and bears, ‘Herbivore Safari’ opened in April 2010, letting visitors get up close and personal with the safari’s giraffes, elephants, and ostriches. Everland is also known for its gorgeous flower arrangements and beautiful gardens, which have been year-round fixtures since the Rose Festival in 1985. Other great spots for family fun are the Snow Sled (the first and the longest of its kind in Korea), Caribbean Bay (an outstanding water park) and Everland Speedway (a racing track).


DAY 3 - Suncheon Garden Expo 2013
The main expo site features various gardens like the World Garden, Flower Garden, Water Garden, Forest Garden, Theme Garden, Oriental Medicinal Herb Garden, and Play Garden. There is also a main performance stage and an outdoor performance stage. The World Garden showcases the traditional garden culture of ten countries in the world all in one site. The Oriental Medicinal Herb Garden highlights medicinal herbs that grow in the mountains, fields, and riverside. Various programs are organized at the nursery garden and hands-on experience center. 

DAY 3 - Aqua Planet

Korea’s largest aquarium “Aqual Planet Yeosu”.
Accordingly, the aquarium has reopened the fourth floor to allow viewing of Russian belugas from above the water, and also will present synchronized swimming by the Marine Girls behind the main tank viewing panel that measures 16 meters in width and 6 meters in length. During its operation period, the facility will regularly host diverse programs to enjoy.

DAY 4 - Yongdusan Park

On the mountain were shrine built by Japanese people during Japanese colonial role, but now are Cheokhwabi monument (the stone monument to the exclusion of foreigners from the country), Chunghontap (memorial tower for Korean war victims), 4.19 Revolution monument (the student's anti-government revolt), the statue of General Lee Sunsin(the great commander in Joseon Dynasty period(1392-1910)) and Busan tower.

*Literary monuments – 9 monuments made of native rock

DAY 4 - Jagalchi Market


The Jagalchi Market (자갈치시장) is Korea's largest seafood market. After the Korean War the market solidified itself as a fish market. Most of the people who sell fish are women, so the women who sell here are called 'Jagalchi Ajumma,' 'ajumma' meaning middle-aged or married women. 


DAY 4 - Shinsegae Centum City

The Shinsegae Centum City Department Store is registered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest shopping complex in the world. The department store has a countless number of items all under one roof. Visitors can also enjoy numerous entertainment options in the complex. Shinsegae, which opened the first department store in Korea, reflects decades of retail experience in this flagship location. Some entertainment facilities include a spa and an ice rink.
